Manifesto
Your data is a human right.
A short manifesto about why octo.taxi exists, and the principle we will not compromise.
The problem we will not pretend isn't there.
In enterprise HR, your own data is often locked behind a tollbooth. Read access is bundled. Write access is upsold. API access frequently costs nearly half the license fee on top. The longer you stay, the more it costs to imagine leaving. That is not a partnership. That is hostage logic dressed in enterprise paperwork.
Our position, in one line.
API access, and access to your own data, should be a human right.
Not a tier. Not a usage cap. Not a renewal lever. The data describing your workforce is yours, and the obligation to give it back to you in a usable form is ours, every day, in every plan.
Two-way doors, by design.
Every architectural choice in octo.taxi is filtered through one question: does this make leaving harder, or easier? We choose easier, every time. Open schemas, full API access in every tier, documented export paths, and an explicit free-of-charge one-time export when you go. Switching to or from octo.taxi should be a two-way door, not a one-way trap. And the door swings in every direction: the same principle holds whether your data is coming from Cornerstone today or any HR system we connect to next, and whether it is headed to your warehouse, your BI tool, your AI agents, or an API surface you design yourself.
We are SaaS – and that is the point.
We charge for the platform, the speed, the design, the support, the insights, the dashboards, the operational care. We do not charge for your right to your data. Look at Obsidian: a SaaS-shaped business now doing $200M+ ARR, built on the principle that your notes belong to you. The lesson is not the licensing model. The lesson is that respecting data ownership is, structurally, a strong business. People stay because they want to, not because they are stuck.
What this means in practice.
- Every plan, including the smallest, includes full API access.
- Pricing scales with usage volume, never with the right to access.
- Open, documented schemas you can connect to your warehouse, BI tool, or AI agents.
- A one-time, full export when you leave – always free.
- No throttling tricks, no "premium API" tiers, no contractual surprises.
Why we say it out loud.
Because most of our category will not. Because we believe the next decade of enterprise software belongs to vendors who treat customers like adults. Because Octily was the first studio dedicated to humanizing Cornerstone – and we are now extending that craft to every HR system octo.taxi reaches. Humanizing means saying clearly: your data belongs to you, wherever it lives, wherever it goes, and we will design our entire product to honor that.
If this resonates, talk to us.
octo.taxi is built and operated by Octily, the team behind a decade of enterprise HR experience design. If two-way doors and humane data principles match how you want to operate, we should know each other.
